Proyecto H is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Mexico of the artist Federico Miró during GAMA WEEK. Miró elaborates on landscapes and the abstraction of the same through collages that take patchworks and fragments of images from diverse cultures.
His particular and meticulous technique alludes to the craftsmanship and tradition of embroidery, tapestry and looms. Miró paints an image on canvas, which he then covers line by line with acrylic to give volume and texture to the work, making it similar to textiles. The patterns and images belong to another era. These elements invite us to reflect on the time involved in the creation of his pieces.
This solo exhibition consists of the artist’s most recent production in which he draws on Spanish, Japanese and Mexican textile culture. The images combine ancient landscapes, Mexican pre-Hispanic patterns, Japanese flora and contrasts them with some contemporary aspects of his daily life in Madrid such as the market, the streets, the street lamps.
His work is a juxtaposition of epochs where he rescues a tradition that has accompanied cultures for centuries and also questions the role of the artist and the artisan. As for his training, Federico Miró obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Malaga in 2013 and completed a Master’s degree in Research in Art and Creation at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2014.
Miró has presented solo exhibitions at venues such as Galería Javier Marín in Málaga in 2022, F2 Galería in 2018, Gallery Red in Mallorca in the same year, Marta Cervera Gallery in Madrid in 2014, and the Bellas Artes de Málaga exhibition hall in 2013. In addition to his solo exhibitions, Miró has participated in a number of group exhibitions at venues such as Da2 in Salamanca and CAC Málaga in 2017.
Some of his most notable achievements include the first Manuel Ángeles Ortiz painting award from the University of Jaén, the BMW painting award for innovation in 2017 and the first prize in the “Salón de Verano” exhibition at the Moncloa hall in Madrid in 2014. He has also been present at art fairs such as Estampa, ARCO Madrid, ARCO Lisbon and Pinta Miami.
