For Salón ACME 2025, Otto Martín Moreno prepared his exhibition at the Proyecto H residence. He presents an on-site sculptural proposal composed of a series of altered tools, stripped of their functionality. The artist opens the interpretation towards other dimensions intrinsic to our complex relationship with objects, highlighting the profound impact they have on the construction of humanity and its relationship with the environment, ultimately questioning their role in contemporary life.

The work, which unfolds in the space in a decentralized manner, seeks to blur the boundaries between the exhibition site and the sculpture itself, and then—taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the artistic space for potential resignification—place the viewer in the midst of a relational field that makes explicit the aesthetic character, while also allowing them to be traversed by the affective or the sensual.

On the other hand, the treatment of the elements that make up the sculpture ranges from the organic—with minimal alterations—to the industrially crafted, thus articulating the procedural nature of technological developments. In this sense, Otto Martín Moreno employs natural products and contemporary technological manufacturing methods to create visual and tactile tensions between wood and its transformation through industrial treatments. By presenting a continuous relationship between this apparent duality, the work invites reflection on the human impact on ecological systems and how technology not only modifies the environment but also our own perceptions of what we consider natural or artificial.

As a whole, this on-site sculpture proposes a critical questioning of how we inhabit the world, blurring the lines between utility and aesthetics, space and object, industry and nature. The piece seeks not only to be seen but to be inhabited, revealing in its interaction with the viewer a dynamic map of connections between art, technology, and the ecosystem in which it is inscribed.
