Gordillo earned the Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Allende Institute incorporated into the University of Guanajuato (1999-2003) and the Master of Visual Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) (2013-2015).
She studied contemporary art theories in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Parque Lage School (2010). She has exhibited individually at the Casa Diana Gallery, San Miguel Allende, Mexico (2014), Oscar Cruz Gallery, Sâo Paulo, Brazil (2011), Caja Blanca, CDMX, Mexico (2009), Humo Live Art, Guadalajara, Mexico (2009) , Kunsthaus Santa Fé, Miami, Usa (2008), Kunsthaus Santa Fé, San Miguel Allende, México (2007), La Estación, Chihuahua, México (2007), Museum of the City of Querétaro, México (2003), Museo de Allende , San Miguel Allende, México (2003) and in important groups internationally. Her paintings belong to important public and private collections in the United States, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Venezuela and Mexico. She has been selected in different biennials such as Yucatán (2006) and Rufino Tamayo (2009).
She was the recipient of the Young Creators Scholarship from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) in 2009-2010 and 2014-2015. She currently lives and works in Mexico City.

Red Star, Winter Orbit is an exhibition that shows the work of four Mexican artists whose work reflects on space, the bodies that occupy it, the movement that generates them, and the trajectories that they lead in turn.

The void as a formal exploration of observation, exhibition of the Mexican artist Rocio Gordillo, was inspired by the research that the artist has carried out on the void through a complex process of vipassana meditation, with the intention of understanding how reality can be percieved through a state where the mind is left empty, in order to observe “reality” as it is.
